It is with tremendous sadness and great pain that we share with you that our colleague, good friend, IT resource, photographer, DJ, and Indian rider, Andrew Lara died on March 2, 2026. Andrew has been a key member of our team and family at Douglass & Associates for over 29 years.
Andrew had an engaging spirit of love, compassion, intelligence, humor, and tenacity, which was brought to a much too early end by the disease that has claimed so many of our friends and family.
Andrew started as a collector with our firm when he was so young I’m not sure he was even shaving yet. Hiring him was one of the best decisions I’ve made in my career. Every single person in our office, past and present, was his friend. He took new law students to lunch. He fixed anything that was broken. He went to a staff members homes to help them with computer issues. He DJ’d their weddings and other celebrations. He had a true zeal and energy for life. He loved to ride his Indian both to work and on long rides with his wife, Rhonda. He coached his son’s soccer teams and was named coach of the year at least once. He loved to go fishing and to teach other people to fish. He claimed to have no religious faith and yet lived as the most exemplary example of all faiths. He was not exactly Christ like, but he followed his teachings far better than most. We were all enriched by his life and his presence. He will be missed and remembered for a long time.
Our deepest sympathies to Rhonda, Ian, Cameron and the Lara family. Our collective pain would be less if he had not been such a magnificent man.
